Iran: UN Human Rights Council Twenty-Second Session, 25 February – 22 March 2013: Oral Intervention by Südwind and Amnesty International

In this oral intervention Südwind and Amnesty International express concern that discriminatory selection procedures for candidates, as well as restrictions of the freedoms of expression, assembly and associations mean that the 2013 presidential election will not be fair or free. The organizations are also concerned about widespread torture, public executions and amputations in Iran. The organizations consider that the Special Rapporteur of the situation of human rights in Iran has led to the uncovering of ever more violations of human rights and that this mandate must be renewed.
