Iran: Further Information on Arbitrary arrest/Unfair trial/Possible prisoner of conscience
Brothers Arash Alaei and Kamiar Alaei, doctors specializing in the prevention and management of HIV and AIDS, were tried on 31 December in proceedings that did not meet international standards for fair trial. The verdict has yet to be announced, but the Alaei brothers are among the four Iranian citizens mentioned by a spokesperson for the Iranian judiciary on 13 January for their involvement in an attempt to overthrow the government.
