Ridha Qarni ‘Abdallah was sentenced to death on 17 February 1998 by the Fayyoum criminal court. The sentence has now been passed to the Mufti, the highest religious authority in the country, for approval. The court will decide on the prison sentence against her accomplice at a later court session.
