Time to invest in human rights: A summary of concerns for the International Finance Corporation

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) is the member of the World Bank Group that finances and provides advice to private sector investment in developing countries. Since 2006, IFC has used the Sustainability Framework to address social and environmental issues. Amnesty International submitted an analysis in which it concluded that the Sustainability Framework failed to adequately reflect human rights standards, leaving affected individuals and communities exposed to potentially serious human rights abuses. This document summarizes Amnesty International’s main concerns and recommendations regarding the draft revised Sustainability Framework.
