At the next African Union (AU) Summit in Accra, Ghana, July 2007, the AU Assembly will elect/re-elect four members of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights, whose terms are expiring. This document contains a brief explanation of the selection and election process, followed by Amnesty International’s recommendations, setting out criteria for the nomination and election of members of the African Commission.
