Open letter to the candidates for the post of Secretary General of the Organization of American States
In this open letter to candidates, Amnesty International states that it is paying particular attention to the process which will shortly result in the election of a new Secretary General of the OAS following the resignation of the person appointed in June 2004. For whoever is appointed to the post, the issue of human rights is clearly of particular significance since, both historically and legally, it is an inherent part of the OAS.
