Joint NGO letter to the UN General Assembly: Support the draft resolution on "Recognizing the role of human rights defenders and the need for their protection"
In a letter signed by over 150 NGOs from across the globe, Amnesty International joins others in expressing grave concern regarding amendments tabled to the draft resolution ”Recognizing the role of human rights defenders and the need for their protection" to be considered at the United Nations General Assembly Third Committee on 25 November 2015. The letter urges all UN Member States to live up to their human rights commitments by supporting the resolution, by rejecting amendments designed to weaken it, and by taking concrete steps to protect human rights defenders.
