Amnesty International provides preliminary observations to the UN Human Rights Committee for the preparation for a General Comment No. 36 on the right to life. The submission aims to comment on elements of interpretation on some of the key aspects of Article 6 of the ICCPR, as well as to provide Amnesty International’s main observations and recommendations. The document draws on the Committee’s practice, pertinent international and regional standards, rulings, decisions and observations, and other authority for the Committee’s consideration.
