Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (Kosovo province): Rame Ismaili
Rame Ismaili, aged 39, is a human rights activist and member of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), the main party in Kosovo representing ethnic Albanians from Kosovo province. According to a statement he made to a local human rights organization, on 20 February 1996 he was beaten and otherwise ill-treated by police officers in the town of Urosevac. Amnesty International is calling for a full and impartial investigation into the incident.
