AI's concerns include young men imprisoned as prisoners of conscience for conscientious objection to compulsory military service; allegations that political prisoners have been subjected to unfair trials; and persistent reports of ill-treatment in detention, of both criminal and political prisoners, in such treatment is said to have led to deaths in custody. There are also at least 25 men currently on death row.
