Russian Federation: Violations continue, no justice in sight. A briefing paper on human rights violations in the context of the armed conflict in the Chechen Republic

The report presents Amnesty International’s concerns about the human rights abuses taking place in and around Chechnya, and the prevailing climate of impunity. There seems to be no end in sight either to the conflict or to the accompanying human rights violations committed by Russian and Chechen security forces. This document is an update to two reports issued in 2004, AI Index: EUR 46/027/2004 and AI Index: EUR 46/059/2004. It sets out recommendations to the government of the Russian Federation, Chechen armed opposition groups, and the international community for improved protection of human rights.
