Russian Federation: What justice for Chechnya's "disappeared"? Executive Summary
This is an executive summary of EUR 46/015/2007. The Chechen Republic is officially "back to normal". While the reported number of enforced disappearances and abductions has decreased, such incidents continue to take place. The authorities have failed in virtually all cases to investigate and prosecute the serious human rights violations that have taken place over the course of the conflict. They have also failed to provide redress to the victims. Amnesty International is calling on the Russian federal and Chechen authorities to put a stop to the continuing enforced disappearances and to address impunity for the violations.
