Human rights activist Aleksei Sokolov’s trial is now scheduled to begin on 19 January 2010. His detention order has been extended until 9 March. Aleksei Sokolov was arrested on 13 May 2009. Amnesty International believes that Aleksei Sokolov may be a prisoner of conscience, detained for the peaceful exercise of his right to freedom of expression in the course of his lawful human rights activities.
