United Kingdom: Human rights are not a game
In this booklet, Amnesty International expresses its concern that the UK's anti-terrorism measures undermine a wide range of human rights safeguards and have led to abuses. Ever since the declaration of the so-called "war on terror" by the US government, the UK authorities have been attacking human rights, the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary. They have persecuted men labelled a "threat to national security" on the basis of secret intelligence, with devastating consequences for the men and their families. They have undermined the ban on torture both at home and abroad.
