Lawyer Esber Yagmurdereli was arrested by police at 2am on 20 October 1997 as he was leaving the premises of Channel D television in Istanbul. He is currently in police custody but is expected to be transferred to Umraniye Prison, Istanbul, within 24 hours. Amnesty International is calling for his immediate and unconditional release as a POC.
