Turkey: More people "disappear" following detention
This report describes 12 cases of "disappearance" which occurred between 18 March 1993 and 5 January 1994. There has been a striking increase in reports of "disappearances" , particularly in the southeast, during 1993/1994. There were at least 26 reported "disappearances" in Turkey in 1993. The cases reported here are: Ahmet Sahin; Ebedin Yasli; Abdulvahap Timurtas; Umit Tas; 11 male villagers from Alaca; Ahmet Cakici; Uzeyir Kurt; Huseyin Ugurlu; Cemile Sarli and her brother Ramazan Sarli; Fethi Yildirim. The following disappearances were reported from Istanbul during the same period: Ali Efeoglu; Aysel Malkac.
