Orhan Ozen, Riza Boybas (note corrected spelling), Abdulmecit Seckin, new: Metin Goktepe, journalist, aged 27; hundreds of participants at the funeral: Metin Goktepe, journalist for Evrensel newspaper, died on 8 January after being detained during the funeral of two political prisoners who had been beaten to death at Umraniye Prison in Istanbul on 4 January. More than 600 mourners were detained by police, many of whom were women and children.
