On the night of 28 December 1994 armed and masked police stormed the flat of Hasan and Kadire Gun without identifying themselves. According to statements made by the family, officers allegedly ill-treated Hasan Gun and his 68-year-old mother Kadire Gun. Medical reports show that Hasan Gun suffered multiple bruising and abrasions to the head, neck, chest, abdomen and left leg. He spent five days in hospital and several weeks after the incident was diagnosed as suffering from “post-traumatic stress reaction”. Kadire Gun suffered extensive bruising to her stomach, thigh and left shoulder. An investigation is being carried out by the Cologne Public Prosecutor.
