Bulgaria: Shootings, deaths in custody, torture and ill-treatment
Human rights violations persist in Bulgaria. Official statistics on shootings, deaths in custody and complaints of torture and ill-treatment by law-enforcement officers are not made public. Many of the victims of police ill-treatment are Roma. The situation is made worse by a pattern of impunity for law enforcement officers responsible for human rights violations.
