Republic of Albania: Submission to the UN Universal Periodic Review: Sixth session of the UPR Working Group of the Human Rights Council, November - December 2009
In this submission, Amnesty International provides information as stipulated in the General Guidelines for the Preparation of Information under the Universal Periodic Review. Amnesty International calls for the introduction of a law criminalising domestic violence. The organization highlights its concerns about human rights violations in the context of Albania’s failure to fully implement a civil law on the protection of women from domestic violence; and the failure to guarantee the rights of orphans, including to adequate housing.
