"Disappearance"
THAILAND: Ye Soe Aung, aged 18
Amnesty International has learnt that the body of Ye Soe Aung has been discovered
abandoned near the Thailand-Myanmar border. It has now been taken to Camp
102 of the All-Burma Students Democratic Front in Myanmar. According to
reports, Ye Soe Aung's head was covered with blood and showed signs of serious
injury. Four police officers who are alleged to have been seen involved in
beating and kicking Ye Soe Aung on the night of his arrest are said to have
been transferred out of Nat Ein Daung.
Ye Soe Aung, a Burmese national, had reportedly been arrested by Thai police
on 4 November 1991 in Nat Ein Daung, the Burmese name for a village on the
Thai side of the country's border with Myanmar (Burma). Ye Soe Aung was a
member of the insurgent All-Burma Students' Democratic Federation (ABSDF).
