Nepal: Open letter condemning the abduction of human rights defenders and civilians by the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist)
This letter expresses Amnesty International's serious concern at recent human rights abuses against civilians by Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) (Maoist) members and, in particular, the reported abduction of three human rights defenders and threats against two journalists. Members of the CPN (Maoist) are reported to have carried out targeted killings of civilians and to have continued to abduct hundreds of teachers and students for "re-education purposes".
