South Korea: Arrest and trial of trade union leaders
Yang Kyu-hun was arrested on 1 February 1996 and Kwon Young-kil went on trial on January 26 1996. The two are important trade union leaders and their arrests seem to have been motivated by a desire to suppress the growth of independent trade unionism in South Korea.
