Republic of Korea (South Korea): Appeal for the release of Sok Tal-yun
AI is calling for the immediate and unconditional release of Sok-Tal Yun, who has already spent 15 years in prison. He was sentenced to life imprisonment under the National Security Law: AI believes that he was convicted after an unfair trial, largely on the basis of a confession extracted by torture. He was accused and convicted of espionage for North Korea. His case is similar to dozens of others imprisoned during the 1970s and 1980s.
