In a joint report with Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International calls upon President Suharto’s sucessor to release of all prisoners of conscience and to repeal the laws which over the last 30 years have been used to punish peaceful dissent. The report gives details of cases where people have been imprisoned for their nonviolent opposition to the government and at the end of the report there are seven prisoner lists of prisoners of conscience and political activists in Indonesia and East Timor and “disappeared” political activists in Indonesia.
