This document describes the case of 14 student activists, ranging in ages from 20 to 27, that have been imprisoned for their calls for reform of Indonesia’s political system. They have been sentenced to jail terms ranging from one-and-a-half to 13 years. AI considers the sentences to be a violation of the right to freedom of expression and association, a view which has also been echoed by groups and individuals in Indonesia.
