India: Open letter to Bangalore Authorities on forced evictions in Ejipura
In this letter Amnesty International expresses its deep concern about the situation of an estimated 5000 people (1200 families) who were forcibly evicted from the ‘Economically Weaker Sections’ housing in Ejipura by Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike officials between 18 – 21 January 2013. In particular, the organization is concerned about the living conditions of an estimated 200 families who are currently living in make-shift shelters on the pavement near the eviction site.
