India: Words into action: Recommendations for the prevention of torture
In this report Amnesty International, as part of it's global campaign against torture, is publishing a set of recommendations for the prevention of torture in India. The document focuses on the reasons why torture and ill-treatment continue in India; and its' recommendations include identifying the need for institutional changes within the criminal justice system -- including reform of the police, as well as several legislative changes.
