The news paper Xinmin Wanbao of 29 August 1995 reports that two members of a “gang of hooligans”, Wang Shanrong and Chen Kui, were sentenced to death on 28 August 1995 in Jiangsu Province. A third gang member was sentenced to four years’ imprisonment. AI opposes the death penalty in all cases and is calling on the authorities to commute these sentences.
