China: Prisoner list: 1989 prisoners 8 years on
This document details 303 people who are believed to be currently detained for their activities during the 1989 pro-democracy protests. All are serving long prison sentences, ranging from eight years to life imprisonment. Many are prisoners of conscience. These are only a fraction of AI's record of imprisonment linked to the protests, and every year previously unknown cases come to international attention.
