People’s Republic of China: Persistent human rights violations in Tibet

This report describes human rights violations against the Tibetan minority in the People’s Republic of China during 1993-94. Arbitrary arrests, long-term detention of prisoners of conscience, detention without trial of political prisoners, unfair trials and widespread torture and ill-treatment are among the concerns described here. A separate section focuses on the detention of juvenile political prisoners and prisoners of conscience. A list of known political prisoners in Tibet (as of December 1994) is appended.
