Zheng Xuguang was released on 26 February 1994 after three months detention without charge. Fellow dissident, Ma Shaohua, who was arrested with Zheng on 27 November 1993, reportedly remains in detention in Xi’an, Shaanxi province. There is no further news of prisoner of conscience Li Guiren, aged 50, who was rearrested on 16 February 1994 and who is in very poor health.
