FURTHER BACKGROUND INFORMATION
National League for Democracy (NLD) delegates attended the opening session
of the National Convention on 28 November. However, the NLD later decided to

more democratic had not been taken into consideration. The authorities have
said that the Convention will proceed regardless and that the NLD may be
expelled.
