United States of America: Human rights v. public relations

Drawing upon a recent report sponsored by the non-partisan US think tank, the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), Amnesty International highlights the need for the USA to move beyond public relations, and to listen to the appeals for it to respect international law and standards. Examples cited in the document include the treatment of Guantánamo detainees, who are denied access to legal counsel and the courts, and to the impending execution of Toronto Patterson on the 28 August, for a crime committed at the age of 17.
