This document summarises the shortfalls in human rights standards in the USA. It mentions in particular discrimination against many sectors of society, the US’ reluctance to commit to international human rights standards which it helped to formulate covering all areas from treatment of offenders, asylum seekers or juveniles to the imposition of the death penalty.
