US Court of Appeals
which has scheduled oral arguments on the case for 10 February 2000. He is
now out of imminent danger of being executed.
John Paul Penry was sentenced to death in 1980 and again at a retrial in 1990
for the murder of Pamela Moseley Carpenter in 1979. He has serious mental
impairment and suffered a childhood of appalling torture and abuse.
No further action by the UA Network is requested at this time. The network
will be informed immediately, however, if another date of execution is set
for John Penry. Many thanks to all who sent appeals on his behalf.
