Mexico: Journeys of hope and fear: Migrants on the move in Mexico
Every year tens of thousands of people leave their homes in Central America and journey north through Mexico as irregular immigrants. They hope to reach the USA and a new life but all too often their dreams become nightmares. Thousands fall victim to beatings, abduction, rape or even murder. Women and children are especially vulnerable. Criminal gangs are mostly responsible for the abuses, but it seems probable that Mexican officials are sometimes involved. This booklet accompanies the film "The Invisibles" available at www.amnesty.org/en/theinvisibles.
