Leroy Lamey
Kevin Mykoo and Leroy Lamey, who were scheduled to be hanged on 8 December
1998, were granted stays of execution pending the hearing of constitutional
motions filed by each man after the execution warrants were issued. The
constitutional motions include a claim that it would be unconstitutional to
execute them whilst they have petitions pending before the Inter-American
Commission on Human Rights (IACHR).
The government had refused to stay their executions past certain dates even
if the IACHR had not finished its consideration of their cases.
No further action is required from the Urgent Action network at present. Many
thanks to all who sent appeals.
