Cuba: Government crackdown on dissent

This document chronicles the actions taken by the Cuban government to prevent unofficial groups of various kinds from freely exercising their rights to freedom of association, assembly and expression. It traces the history of Concilio Cubano, a coalition of some 140 unofficial groups, established in 1995, against whom the authorities launched a major operation in February 1996 resulting in the imprisonment of several of its members including two of its leaders.
