Jairo Barahona was abducted violently from his home by two men on 29 September 1994. His detention has not been acknowledged and there is concern for his safety. His wife and children were threatened by the men, who identified themselves as member sof the security forces. Jairo Barahona is a well-known community leader and founder of the local Human Rights Committee. He is financial and commercial head of a public services operation in Pailitas.
