Manuel Guillermo Omeara Miraval has not been seen since he was abducted by armed men in military camouflage uniforms on 27 August 1994. On 28 January 1994 his father, Noel Omira Omeara Carrascal was shot and fatally wounded, reportedly by members of paramilitary group operating in the area. Both guerrilla groups and the security forces have denied holding Manuel Omeara Miraval.
