AI has learned that Armando Rodriguez, a surgeon and director of Restrepo’s Municipal Hospital, was reportedly abducted by heavily armed, masked men on 11 September 1992 in Restrepo, Meta department. Earlier that day he had stated that he believed that he had been followed on the four previous days. He had also been receiving death threats which he believed came from the armed forces. Inquiries have been made at local police and military bases but his detention has been denied. His whereabouts remain unknown. AI is seriously concerned for his safety.
