Former Chilean Head of State, General Augusto Pinochet, was arrested in London on 16 October 1998 following a judicial request by Spanish judges who have initiated proceedings against him for crimes against humanity in chile under military rule from 1973 to 1990. This document summarises the nature of those alleged crimes and the means by which they were enabled.
