The eight people named above were arrested by members of the security services in Kinshasa between 25 and 27 March 1993 and are believed to be held incommunicado. They are all known members of the largest opposition party in Zaire, the Union pour la Democratie et le Progres Social (UDPS). There are fears for their safety in incommunicado detention.
