Some 100 activists were arrested by security forces a pro-democracy rally called by the United Action for Democracy in Nigeria. While in detention they are at risk of ill-treatment. At least two protesters were killed and many others seriously injured. Some 100 other protesters were carried away to an undisclosed location.
