Madagascar: Weak Human Rights Protection: Amnesty International Submission for the UN Universal Periodic Review
In this submission, Amnesty International evaluates the implementation of recommendations made to Madagascar in its previous UPR, including in relation to its ratification of international and regional human rights instruments and the treatment of prisoners and prison conditions. It also assesses the national human rights framework with regard to the national justice system, prolonged pre-trial detention, restrictions on the rights to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly, and criminalization of abortion.
