Kenya: Further information on prisoner of conscience / possible prisoner of conscience

On 22 May 1998 Njuguna Mutahi, a human rights activist and Wahome Karengo, a journalist, charged with theft at a court hearing on 19 May, were released on bail. Their trial is due to take place on 22 July. If convicted, Amnesty International would consider Njuguna Mutahi to be a prisoner of conscience and Wahome Karengo to be a possible prisoner of conscience.
