Africa: Committee for the Prevention of Torture in Africa: Submission on the draft General Comment on the Right to Redress for Victims of Torture and Ill-treatment
Amnesty International welcomes and strongly supports the important initiative taken by the Committee for the Prevention of Torture in Africa to draft a General Comment on the Right to Redress for Victims of Torture or Ill-Treatment under Article 5 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights. The zero draft that has been circulated for consultation promises to make an important contribution towards ensuring that governments fulfil their obligations to provide effective remedies, including full and effective reparation to victims of torture and other ill-treatment.
