Demand Dignity: Case studies on maternal mortality: campaign digest
More than half a million women die needlessly each year from complications related to pregnancy and childbirth – one every minute. Many others suffer disabling injuries. As the cases in this digest demonstrate, most maternal deaths could be prevented by high-quality, accessible, affordable and timely medical care. Governments must act now to end preventable deaths of women; to make maternal health care accessible to all; and, to respect and protect women's sexual and reproductive rights.
