The arms trade: Time for action
Half a million people die every year as a result of armed violence. With negotiations on the Arms Trade Treaty reaching a peak at the UN Conference in July 2012, it is vital that Amnesty International, along with NGO partners, seize this historic opportunity to negotiate a Treaty that will help protect human rights and save millions of lives. After 20 years of campaigning for an effective Arms Trade Treaty, the next 24 months are very possibly the final opportunity to ensure the organization's demands are built into the Treaty and implemented.
